Ingredients

Demerara Syrup

  • 2 cups Demerara (or turbinado) sugar
  • 1 cup water

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a shaker, add ice and shake vigorously. Strain and pour in a cocktail glass. Garnish with nutmeg.

Tip:

Though a delicious flavor in its own right, vanilla can also act as an effective flavor enhancer. For example, in this drink, it intensifies the chocolate, rum and nutmeg.

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ingredients and bring to a boil. Stir until sugar fully dissolves. Remove from heat. Allow to cool.
