LOYOLA UNIVERSITY CHICAGO FAMILY BUSINESS CENTER NAMES NIELSEN-MASSEY 2006 SMALL FAMILY BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

WAUKEGAN, ILLINOIS - (December 7, 2006) - Loyola University Chicago’s Family Business Center named Nielsen-Massey Vanillas winner of the Small Business category among its 2006 Illinois Family Business of the Year Awardees.

This is Loyola’s 13th Annual Illinois Family Business of the Year Awards, recognizing superior Illinois-based family businesses that demonstrate a strong commitment to both business and family. Winners were honored at an awards gala on Thursday, December 7 at The Four Seasons Hotel - Chicago.

“We are honored to accept this award," says Matthew Nielsen, COO of Nielsen-Massey. “2007 marks the 100th anniversary for Nielsen-Massey Vanillas, and as a Chicago-based company, we are very proud to be recognized by Loyola in this year’s awards. This is a great start to our anniversary celebration!” adds Nielsen.

This year’s awards drew more than 400 nominations for five categories: small (companies with fewer than 50 employees), medium (50 to 250), large (more than 250), Community Service, and the Century Award. Winners of the awards have demonstrated positive family/business linkage, multi-generational family business practices and strategies.

“We created these awards 12 years ago to recognize significant and positive contributions made by family businesses, and we have remained committed to the task of recognizing the outstanding accomplishments and contributions of family business to our local and national society and economy,” says Andrew Keyt, executive director of Loyola’s Family Business Center. “These businesses do so much for the state of Illinois, and it is truly an honor to be able to reward them for their dedication and hard work.”
