WAUKEGAN, ILLINOIS - (June 29, 2008) - Nielsen-Massey Vanillas has added Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar to its line of pure vanilla products now available to retailers. The new vanilla sugar combines the essence of Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract infused with gourmet baker’s sugar.
Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar is perfect for recipes where a hint of vanilla and the sweetness of sugar are desired. It’s ideal for adding an extra layer of pure flavor to baked goods such as cookies, cakes, pies and pastries. Vanilla sugar can also be used in place of regular sugar for general cooking, mixed with beverages or sprinkled as a sweet topping on French toast, cereal or fresh fruit. Turn brunch into a true occasion with these delicious crepes that incorporate the lovely flavors of Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar into both the batter and as a crunchy topping: Nielsen-Massey Vanilla Sugar Crepes 3 eggs Filling and Topping In large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs and Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar. Whisk in the milk, butter and Nielsen-Massey Tahitian Pure Vanilla Extract. Add the flour mixture gradually and whisk until blended. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 minutes. Brush bottom of 10-inch nonstick sauté pan with clarified butter. Heat pan over medium heat. Stir batter gently, then ladle ¼-cup into pan and immediately rotate until batter uniformly covers bottom. Loosen edge with rubber spatula, turn crepe over when golden brown, about 2 minutes. Stack cooked crepes between waxed paper. Before serving, spread one-teaspoon jam on one-half of each crepe, fold crepe in half, and then fold in half again. The crepe will form a triangle, brush each crepe with melted butter and sprinkle with Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar. Note: Clarified butter is melted, and the white milk solids are skimmed off the top.
