Just in time for spring, Nielsen-Massey Vanillas is proud to announce the addition of Rose Water to their line of premium flavors.

Rose Water captures the essence of fresh rose blossoms through steam distillation. Using only the purest of rose petals, the delicate essential oils are extracted from the petals. Use this delicate floral flavor in Middle Eastern, Indian and Greek dishes such as baklava and rice pudding, and to infuse spring into French pastry glazes and creams. Rose Water pairs wonderfully with vanilla, cream, chocolate, rice and mild cheeses, enhancing many recipes.

In addition to adding a new dimension to favorite recipes, Rose Water is known for its therapeutic qualities, and is used in many cleansers, skin care lines and aromatherapy products. Rose Water has also been found to soothe and relax babies.

Vanilla Rose Apple Crisp
Serves 6-8

5 Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced
3 tablespoons butter, melted
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon Nielsen-Massey Rose Water
½ cup Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar
¼ cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed

Crisp Topping
½ cup butter, softened
½ cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
¼ cup Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar
¾ cup all-purpose flour
1 cup old-fashioned oats
1 teaspoon Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Bean Paste
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350° F. In a large bowl, combine apples, melted butter, flour, cinnamon, Nielsen-Massey Rose Water, Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar and brown sugar. Place apple mixture into 9-by-9-inch baking dish coated with nonstick spray.

In medium bowl, combine butter, brown sugar, Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar, flour, oats, Nielsen-Massey Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Bean Paste, cinnamon and salt. Top apples with crisp mixture and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until apples are tender.
